The UK Tier Visa System has the following demarcations –
  • Tier 1 Visa: The visa is granted to the ‘high-value migrants' outside the EEA. There are many streams under this category, like the Tier 1 investor visa scheme, Global Talent Scheme, etc. On 29 March 2019, there was a significant change when the UK Innovator visa scheme replaced one of the popular Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa scheme.
  • Tier 2 Visa: It is a 'skilled workers’ Visa category for people outside the EEA. The applicants should have a job offer along with the acknowledgment from the UK from a Tier 2 Sponsor. There are also important streams here like Tier 2 Intra-Company Transfer visa for MNCs who transfer their employers to the UK.
  • Tier 3 Visa: It is a visa category for a low-skilled worker who can fill specific temporary labor shortages. There are no visas that have been allotted under this category so far.
  • Tier 4 Visa: It is a visa category for students from outside the EEA. Applicants should be selected and registered with a UK educational establishment before they can apply.
  • Tier 5 Visa: There are six sub-tiers of the temporary worker in this category, which includes creative and sporting, charity workers, religious workers.
