In the latest Saskatchewan draw of July 21, 280 targeted candidates with work experience in one of 63 occupations got selected. The applicants were selected through the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), and the candidates were picked from the International Skilled Worker category. Of all the applicants invited, 84 applicants were selected through the SINP’s Express Entry subcategory and another 196 through the Occupations In-Demand subcategory.
Regardless of the stream through which they have been selected, the candidates required an Expression of Interest (EOI) score of at least 77 to be invited. Also, there were Educational Credential Assessments requirements for foreign education that should meet the Canadian standard. It was only for those applicants who had work experience in one of the 63 in-demand occupations.
The SINP’s Occupations In-Demand subcategory is a base Provincial Nominee Program (PNP); it is open for those applicants who don’t have an express entry base.
It is a subcategory for highly skilled workers who have experience in an in-demand occupation in Saskatchewan, but they don’t have a job offer in the province. As per this subcategory, foreign nationals need to create an EOI profile through the SINP’s online application system.
Saskatchewan’s EOI system selects immigration candidates with the potential to thrive in the prairie province. The applicants are assessed as per their work experience, education qualification, language ability, age, and connections to the province to demonstrate their ability to settle in Saskatchewan. The points are calculated as per 100 points on the SINP’s International Skilled Worker Points Assessment Grid. It is the high scoring applicants who receive the provincial nomination.
The Express Entry subcategory is an enhanced PNP, and it is linked to the federal Express Entry system. There are three sub-streams in this category -Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class.
The applicants should create EOI profiles for Saskatchewan to be considered for an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination.
Express Entry candidates with a nomination from the province of Saskatchewan are given an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System score at the federal level.
