On March 18, The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program selected a total of 150 applicants from Express Entry, Labour Impact, and Business Impact categories in the latest draw. Out of the 150 invitations for the nomination, there were 140 that were for Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates and only 10 for Business Impact candidates. the Minimum required score threshold was 70 points
The Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) have been designed to help Canada’s provinces and territories meet their labor market needs. There are certain enhanced express entry streams where the provincial streams get aligned with Canada’s federal Express Entry system. With high targets set for the year, the Canadian government is aiming to admit 80,800 new immigrants through the PNPs this year.

PEI PNP - Express Entry Category
The PEI PNP’s Express Entry Category is linked to the federal Express entry and helps pick applicants from the federal pool for selection. The applicants can be selected from three streams –
Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Canadian Experience Class)
The applicants are provided a Comprehensive Ranking System (C.R.S.) score, which assesses the abilities as per age, professional work experience, education, and language proficiency in English or French. It is the highs coring applicants who meet the minimum point score requirement who are selected in the draw. The selected applicants are provided 600 bonus points in the subsequent Express Entry draw.
To be considered in the P.E.I., Express Entry, the applicant should have an EOI profile with the PEI PNP. In the EOI profile, the appellant is given points as per the unique points core grid, and the High scoring appellant is selected for nomination.
P.E.I. - Labour Impact Category
The P.E.I. Labour Impact Category is for skilled foreign nationals, and to be selected in this category; it is important to have a valid job offer in P.E.I. the applicant should also have support from their employer.
It is divided into three streams - Skilled Worker, Critical Worker, and International Graduate. If the applicant wishes to be considered for the draw, then the applicant should also submit an Expression of Interest through the Labour Impact Category.
P.E.I. - Business Impact Category
The P.E.I. - Business Impact Category candidates require a minimum provincial score requirement to be selected in the program. There is a different core that is announced in every draw, and the invitations are issued under the Work Permit Stream. It is a stream for foreign entrepreneurs who want to own and operate a business on the island.
