The recent Ontario Provincial Nominee Program (OINP) draw selected a large number of appellants in the Provincial draw. There were 754 Express Entry candidates on March 2 with the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores between 463 and 467. The applicants in the recent OINP draw were selected in the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream (HCP).

In the latest OINP draw, the Express Entry candidates got the opportunity to apply for a provincial nomination in one of the following ten occupations:
The list of occupations in the latest draw was very similar to the occupations of Ontario’s previous HCP draw on February 2. The shortlisted appellants need to have at least one year of work experience in one of these occupations. After Nomination, the appellants will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA)
In 2020, Ontario province invited 6,716 Express Entry candidates for a provincial nomination under the HCP stream. It was the largest proportion of all the Express-Entry linked PNP nominations.
Can provincial nominations help get the ITAs?
Those applicants who receive the PNP nomination are eligible for additional 600 CRS points toward their overall score. This guarantees their selection in the next all-program express entry draw.
In 2020 and 2021, so after the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted a lot of PNP-only draws. Due to the Pandemic, the Canadian government has stuck to the policy where they transition temporary workers into permanent residents to meet the Canada Immigration targets for the year.
Canada’s Express Entry system
Canada Express Entry system is an immigration program for skilled workers where there are three streams for immigration:
Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
Express Entry candidates need to meet the requirements under any one of the streams to be selected. For this, they are picked from the Express Entry pool of candidates on meeting the CRS score requirements. The IRCC awards point based on age, work experience, education, language ability in English or French, and other factors. The highest scoring applicants are then issued the Invitation to Apply (ITA), which needs to be responded to by the applicant in 60 days along with the documents.
