Newest Alberta PNP draw CRS score drops to 300

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) has selected 148 Express Entry candidates for provincial nomination with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores of at least 300. With this latest draw, the Alberta province has now invited 2,761 immigration candidates in total.

The Key Highlights of the draw

    •         ITA- 148

    •         CRS - 300

Compared to the previous Alberta Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw, there are fewer candidates invited in this draw, and there is a low CRS score requirement of 300.  The province has now invited 2,761 Express Entry candidates since the time it has resumed the provincial nomination invitation rounds in January 2021. There was a temporary hiatus in the latter months of 2020. The Alberta province has a target of 6,250 nomination certificates in 2021

How does the Alberta Express Entry Stream work?

The Alberta Express Entry stream selects applicants from the federal government's express entry pool per provincial requirements. The federal system of skilled workers selection is Express Entry, and it has three sub-streams - Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program.

The points are calculated with the help of the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) tool, and the factors that help in point calculation are age, education, work experience, language ability in English or French, and other factors.

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conduct regular Express Entry draws, and it is the highest-scoring candidates who are invited to apply for permanent residence.

The applicants can also immigrate through the Express Entry system without a provincial nomination. Those candidates who have a lower CRS score can opt for provincial nomination. The selection for the provincial nomination can help the applicant get 600 points automatically in the point score calculation.

With this principle, even If the lowest-scoring applicants selected in the new Alberta draw receive the nomination, then in the federal score calculation, their new CRS scores will be 901. It will guarantee their selection in the subsequent Express Entry draw.

    Alberta Express Entry Stream Eligibility

Those who wish to get the provincial nomination through the Alberta Express Entry stream should have work experience in an eligible occupation. There is no eligible occupations list for Alberta; rather, there is a list of occupations not eligible for the stream. Many people who are part of this stream are food service supervisors, transport truck drivers, and cooks, among others.

Also, your Express Entry profile must indicate your interest in moving to Alberta. Factors that help increase your score and nomination chances are having a parent, child, or sibling permanent resident or citizen in Alberta, work experience, a Canadian education, or a job offer in Alberta.
