Manitoba Selected 118 immigration candidates in new PNP draw

On 30th December, Manitoba province helped its provincial nomination draw, and 118 immigration candidates were shortlisted. The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) selected applicants in three immigration streams:

  • Skilled Workers in Manitoba,
  • International Education Stream,
  • Skilled Workers Overseas.

The Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs), was provided to the applicants who achieved the minimum Expression of Interest (EOI) scores as below:

  • Skilled Workers in Manitoba— 157 LAAs, EOI score: 461;
  • Skilled Workers Overseas— 13 LAAs, EOI score: 718; and
  • International Education Stream— 18 LAAs, no EOI score requirement.

In the recent draw, Out of the 118 LAAs being issued, 13 were for the Express Entry candidates. The MPNP has the right to refuge for those applicants who didn’t have a valid Express Entry ID, a validation code for job seekers, and experience in an occupation on Manitoba’s In-demand Occupations list.

The MPNP considered Skilled Worker Overseas only in this draw, and they were invited under the strategic recruitment initiative. Those applicants who scored higher than the minimum required score, but did not receive an LAA, the reasons could be as below:

  • their third-party language had no valid test number;
  • invalid test for the language
  • no valid invitation number under a strategic recruitment initiative

The appellants in one of the above-mentioned scenarios can refurbish their EOI profile and apply for the next draw; candidates in a regulated occupation have been invited to this draw. The MPNP refuses candidates who are not working in a regulated occupation and those without proof of licensing for Manitoba employment. These people can also decline their LAA.

Manitoba’s Expression of Interest (EOI) system

Aspirants for Manitoba’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) should have an Expression of Interest with the MPNP and get an LAA through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas streams.

In the Manitoba province system, applicants are ranked out of 1,000 points for credentials such as their language skills, education, work experience, Manitoba connections, and other factors.

Manitoba immigration streams

The Skilled Workers Overseas and Skilled Workers in Manitoba allow the province to nominate skilled workers as per the province’s labor market needs.

People in the overseas category need to have an established connection to Manitoba. It could be close family ties or friends in the province, previous experience in Manitoba, or also an invitation under one of the MPNP’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives. There is no need for the candidates to be physically present in Canada. In the skilled Workers category, the applicant must meet certain criteria, such as a full-time permanent job offer from a Manitoba employer.

International students who have graduated from an educational institution in Manitoba can get an LAA under the International Education Stream for their in-demand skills.

Those who receive Manitoba’s provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600 CRS points, and they get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada. Express Entry candidates who get a provincial nomination from Manitoba in this draw need to present a valid Express Entry ID and a job seeker validation code.
