    • Stream – Skilled Workers Overseas

    • EOI Score – 565

Since the onset of 2021, the Manitoba province has selected 4,722 applicants for LAA so far.

How Manitoba selects applicants for Immigration?

Manitoba selects the applicants as per the Labour market needs with the help of the Manitoba provincial nominee program. The province has its own EOI scoring matrix, and it is not the same as the federal point score system, which uses the Comprehensive ranking system tool. The applicants who meet the pint score and other eligibility requirements are given 600 additional points in eth federal score system calculation. This feature is not unique to Manitoba province; rather, all the provincial nominations allow applicants with the right of 600 points in federal score calculation.

Manitoba province has three immigration sub-streams, and the applicant can choose any of these streams as per the case requirement. These are – international graduate stream, Skilled Workers in Manitoba, and Skilled Workers Overseas streams. Manitoba has made it easy for international talent to move to the province if they meet the requirements. The provinces have the right to allot nominations while permanent residency is allotted by the federal government.

The applicant can start the process by registering an Expression of Interest with the MPNP. The province ranks the applicants out of 1000 points based on human capital factors and also as per their connections to the province.

The labor market needs can be met through two sub-streams that allow skilled foreign workers - The Skilled Workers Overseas Category and Skilled Workers in Manitoba. The applicants who wish to use the Overseas stream need to prove their connections to Manitoba through the likes of close family ties, previous experience in Manitoba, or an invitation through one of Manitoba’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives. While for the Skilled Workers sub-stream having a full-time job offer from a provincial employer is important.

International graduates in Manitoba can receive an invitation under the International Education Stream.
