Why is IRCC giving importance to the in-Canada Express Entry candidates?
Canada still has restrictive travel for international skilled workers. However, there is also a need to meet the high immigration targets that have been set for the year, with an ambitious target set for 401,000 new immigrants in 2021 and most of the Immigration to be conducted through Express entry. The IRCC has planned that it will meet its immigration target by converting temporary workers into permanent Residents.
The CEC candidates should have at least one year of continuous full-time work experience in a skilled occupation to be selected. As per the IRCC reports, 90 percent of CEC applicants are already in Canada. The IRCC has fallen into a pattern that will hold program-specific draws to meet its immigration targets. Prior to this, the Previous draw was on March 31, in which the PNP applicants were targeted.
The number of ITAs that have been issued in 2021 has already reached 49,124. It is nearly half of its target of new Express Entry candidates to admit in 2021. At this time last year, IRCC had issued 22,600
