The New Express Entry draw was announced on August 18. It was a PNP-only draw in which 463 provincial nominees were picked from the Express Entry pool for permanent residence. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement was set at 751 points. It is a lower score requirement than the last PNP-specific Express entry draw, in which 760 points were asked for the selection of the applicants.
· ITA - 463 (PNP applicants)
· CRS - 751
There is always a highs core requirement in the PNP specific draws as the applicants already have 600 additional points in their kitty from the nomination received. Thus, in this draw, the applicants with a score of 151 were selected as they had 600 additional points of nomination, bringing the total to 751. For this draw, the Tiebreak rule was applied before April 13, 2021, at 16:29:29 UTC. It means the applicants who submitted their profile before the mentioned date and time were selected from the pool. The Tiebreak rule is an administrative requirement that selects applicants with the same CRS score.
In 2021 there have been many program-specific draws as the IRCC has conducted to specific types of draws only - PNP and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). The reason behind this is the pandemic situation. The IRCC wants to convert temporary workers into permanent residents in this pandemic time and save the hassle of increasing infections. The PNP and CEC specific will help curb the labor market gap as well. The government must take essential measures to meet the labor market gaps of the region. The travel restrictions in place in Canada have been successful in some aspects in curbing the pandemic situation.
The immigration target set for the year 2021 by IRCC is 108,500 newcomers through the Express Entry system. Out of this, the province has already invited 102,779 applicants through the Express Entry system. The minimum required score has been slightly up for the PNP applicants as compared to the CEC ones because of the 600 additional points allotted at the time of nomination.
The Express Entry Program helps the IRCC select skilled workers and immigrate them swiftly through three streams - the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). The applicants who meet the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement are selected for immigration. It is the high-scoring applicants who get selected and receive the Invitation to Apply (ITA).
