Why is Canada aiming to admit domestic applicants for immigration?
Canada has its borders closed due to the pandemic situation, and international travel was also highly restricted. But, Canada's government heavily relies on immigration to get skilled workers to help in the economic growth. Therefore, The IRCC had set an ambitious target of 401,000 new immigrants in 2021, and most of the selection to be made through express entry programs.
With the Borders closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the IRCC has been holding PNP specific, and CEC Specific draws. It is a specific draws pattern that has been developed by the IRCC in recent times, and all program draws have almost been negligible.
On February 13, there was the biggest CEC specific draw conducted by the IRCC in which every-single applicant who was eligible for the CEC got selected. The IRCC managed to make 2020 a record-breaking year despite all the restrictions, and So far in 2021, there have been 44,124 invitations already issued to Express Entry candidates, which is way more than 22,600 invitations issued around this time last year.
In the past few draws, the CRS score requirement has been up and down a lot. In the PNP Specific draws, the requirement has always been a little above 600, and in the Case of CEC, specifically draws a lot of depends on the number of applicants the IRCC invited and considered. As there is no room for Skilled workers competing in the CEC draws, there is space for a low CRS score.
What is Express Entry Program?
Express Entry Program helps skilled worker’s immigration in the fastest way possible. There are three streams under this program - the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.
The selection under this program is point-based, and the calculation is as per work experience, education, age, and official language ability, among other factors. IRCC selects only the highest-scoring candidates through regular rounds of invitation.
