The recent Express Entry draw was held on August 4 and invited 512 candidates with a CRS score of 760 at least. The new express entry draw was a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) specific draw. The CRS score requirement was higher than the last PNP specific draw in which 462 Express Entry candidates were invited for permanent residence, and the score requirement was at least 734. This time the CRS score requirement is higher than earlier
ITA - 512
CRS - 760
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) selection allows applicants with 600 additional points in the score calculation; therefore, the PNP score requirement is higher than earlier. There was a Tiebreak rule applied in this draw as well, just like the other draws. It is an administrative requirement and doesn’t mean an actual tie. The purpose of the tie is to select applicants who have the same CRS score. The Tiebreak rule was applied before March 5, 2021, at 22:38:31 UTC.
Since the onset of 2021, the IRCC has been conducting only PNP- and Canadian Experience Class (CEC)- specific Express Entry draws. This is the method employed by the IRCC to select applicants who are already living in Canada. By converting the temporary workers into permanent residents, the travel restrictions edged coronavirus pandemic can be effectively managed.
The PNP and CEC specific draws have been the prevalent norm since the start of the pandemic situation, and a lot of these draws will be conducted in the future as well to meet the Canada Immigration level targets.
As compared to the invitations sent last year the number of targets has doubled. For 2021 the target was admitting 108,500 newcomers through the Express Entry system, and so far in 2021 this time, 99,316 PNP and CEC candidates have already been invited.
The score required for the PNP applicants is higher than the score required for the CEC applicants because of the 600 additional points offered against the nomination.
Express Entry Program is a points-based system that helps select skilled workers in three streams: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program. The scores are calculated with the help of the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) tool, and the points are calculated as per skilled work experience, education, age, official language skills, and other factors. The total point score calculation is done out of 1200, and it is the High scoring applicants who are given the ITA.
