It was the most unheard-of turn of events in the Express Entry draw of Saturday, February 13, in which 27,332 applicants got selected for the permanent residency visa. The Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have selected applicants in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) category on February 13. It was a draw of a lifetime in which the appellants with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement of 75 points were selected. A score as low as this one is an unprecedented event that has never been witnessed before.

The Important Aspects of the Draw – February 13

•         ITA - 27332

•         CRS – 75 points

The Express Entry Draw – February 13, 2021

The latest draw invited 5000 more applicants than in the earlier draws. Towards the end of 2020, there were consecutive draws of 5000 ITAs, and also the draws of 2021 have been program-specific draws where a large number of applicants are shortlisted for immigration through both provincial nominee program and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).  Before this draw, the Lowest CRS Cut off ever was 199 points, and it was the score requirement on May 16, 2017, for the Federal Skilled Trades Program candidates.

The last Express entry draw was on February 9, in which 654 Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) applicants were selected within a week; this is the second express entry draw on which 27332 applicants are selected through Canadian Experience Class (CEC). With this, a total of 27,986 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) have been issued by the IRCC in one week only.

The Tie-break rule was applied before September 12, 2020, at 15:31 UTC. The minimum score was set at 75 points. It means all those applicants who had the minimum required score and submitted their application before the set date and time were eligible to migrate to Canada. The IRCC aims to welcome 108500 newcomers in the latest Canada Immigration level Plans, 2021- 2023. The next year's target will be set at 110,500, and it will increase to 113,750 in 2023. In the Immigration targets number, a large number of applicants are expected to be sleeted through Federal High Skilled programs. It means that the applicants will witness new immigrants for the foreseeable future.

The recent express entry draw is an example of how the Canadian government aims to meet the immigration targets by transitioning more temporary residents to permanent residents. Even Canada's immigration minister, Marco Mendicino, has emphasized this idea recently. Also, the draw reveals the intention of meeting a large number of invites at the beginning of the year itself so that there is no pressure towards the end of the year. The IRCC and Mendicino are continuing to look for global talent to help in the economic recovery of Canada.

Canada Express Entry Program

The Express Entry System helps skilled workers move to Canada in six months and in even less time in certain cases. The Program is divided into three categories: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.

The applicant needs to register online in the Express Entry profile, and he enters the pool of candidates. The appellants are then evaluated as per the comprehensive Ranking system form, which they are picked as per the age, language, work experience, and education. The appellants who meet the CRS score requirement achieved 600 bonus points in the express entry system.

In 2021, there has not been a single all-program draw yet, and the IRCC applicants are selected from CEC and PNP in separate program-specific draws. Because of the pandemic situation, the aim is to meet the immigration target from within the country itself; as per the latest report, around 90 % of CEC are currently residing in Canada.

The latest EE draw is the indication that the sky is the limit when it comes to achieving what IRCC wants. There is a new pattern set from here on where if IRCC is willing to invite 27,332 CEC candidates then massive numbers in one single draw, then there are many more such expected in the future as well. Thus FSWP candidates should start to submit the Express Entry profile as soon as possible. With IRCC significantly reducing the minimum CRS score requirement as well, the selection chances are getting stronger and stronger.
