    Express Entry CEC Specific draw selects 6,000 candidates with CRS score of 417

    Just before the weekend, Canada provided aspirants a reason to celebrate. The recent express entry draw was announced on Friday, 16 April 2021, in which 6,000 Canadian Experience Class candidates got invited. The minimum comprehensive ranking system score requirement was set at 417 points in the draw. It was the second-largest draw in the history of Express entry.


    There were more than 1000 Invitations sent than the previous draw, and the score requirement was also 15 points less than earlier. It was a rare draw that was announced right before the weekend and has provided many Canadian Experience Class candidates a reason to celebrate.

This increase in the draw size could be compensation to meet the backlog created due to the pandemic situation. The largest EE draw in the history of Express entry is the draw of 13 February in which 27,332 candidates have been selected. In the latest draw, the applicants with a minimum score of 417 were selected. The tie break rule was set before 1 March 2021 at 19:53:46 UTC. the tie break rule is conducted to select among the same CRS score candidates.

In draws this week, the IRCC has invited 266 Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates for permanent residency. Further, the IRCC has also announced the introduction of six new permanent residence streams that will be launched in May. Through these new streams, there will be 90,000 additional permanent residence will be selected. These will include temporary residents who are in Canada as international graduates and francophones. The IRCC is aiming to meet the 401,000 immigration target in 2021 despite the pandemic situation. Among the active provinces of Canada, the list includes – BC, Alberta, Ontario, and PEI.

    Through the Express Entry draws, the Canada Government has invited 55,390 candidates so far in 2021. This number is nearly double the number same time last year. The CEC Specific draw of 13 February is mainly responsible for this high number; in this draw, 27,332 candidates were selected from the CEC category.


    Canada has conducted 13 draws so far this year, and all the draws have targeted PNP and CEC-specific applicants.


    The PNP-specific draws help the applicants get 600 additional points in the selection. The CEC draw will have a lower minimum score requirement as compared to the other draws. It is always the top-scoring candidates who are selected for immigration.


    From the draws, it appears that IRCC is already prioritizing candidates who are already in Canada. As per the present situation, the COVID-19 border restrictions remain in effect in Canada.
