British Columbia Province has issued 95 invitations on March 23 for Permanent Residency. The Program recently held a Tech Pilot draw under the Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration categories. The selection was made under the Skilled Worker and International Graduate subcategories. The selection score threshold was set at 80 points.
British Columbia also announced the extension of Entrepreneur Immigration (E.I.) Regional Pilot until March 31, 2024
There have been 2,535 immigration candidates selected by British Columbia in 2021 so far.
What is BC PNP Tech Pilot?
It is the B.C. province’s fast-track pathway for I.T. workers and international students. The applicants with tech skills can become Permanent Residents. Candidates need to be registered under one of B.C.’s existing provincial immigration streams, and for selection in the Tech Pilot, he should have a job offer that should be for at least 12 months in one of the 29 eligible tech Occupations.
Unlike the other BC PNP stream, for Tech Pilot, the permanent offer is not required; rather, a job offer for one year is sufficient. The Job offer should be in full-time occupation and top-scoring applicants who meet the eligibility requirements they are selected. Once the process is done, the applications can be processed in two to three months. The applicants who are approved by the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) are provided the Nomination.
The Tech Pilot program is not a separate stream, and the applicant who wishes to be considered in the selection of tech pilot should be registered under the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). It is a point system that allows the BC PNP to give Priorities to applicants who have skills and they can contribute to the economic growth of the province. The points are calculated on the factors of education, years of work experience, and having a B.C. job offer. The Tech Pilot Program came into effect in 2017, and since then, it is one of the most successful ways of tech workers Immigration in B.C. therefore, it has extended till June 2021.
What is the B.C.’s Entrepreneur Immigration – Regional Pilot?
The Entrepreneur Immigration Regional Pilot stream was started in 2019. The program is designed to help applicants work in partnership with regional communities where the population is less than 75,000 people. The province welcomes entrepreneurs in such regions to open a new Business.
The communities should be farther than 30 kilometres from a population centre of more than 75,000 people. It is important that the interested entrepreneurs should complete the explanatory visit to help them set up their business and also obtain a community referral before registering for the pilot. It is the successful applicants who are granted the temporary work permit after the province has determined that it has met all the criteria of performance agreement a nomination is issued. Till now, there are 65 communities that have enrolled in the initial phase. The process is expected to have more additions once the travel restrictions are lifted.
