The BC PNP Tech Pilot selected 76 applicants

British Columbia province held its first Tech Pilot draw of November. A total of 76 candidates were provided with the provincial nomination in Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration categories.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) has selected the applicants under the Skilled Worker and International Graduate categories. The minimum provincial score requirement was of 80 Points for the candidates in all categories.

The Tech Pilot program is a fast-track immigration pathway for all IT workers and international students. It was launched in 2017 and operated through British Columbia’s existing provincial immigration streams. The applicants who wish to relocate through the BC Tech Pilot program should be eligible in one of the 29 eligible occupations and have a valid job offer.

The list of eligible occupations include

  • computer and information systems managers,
  • civil engineers,
  • web designers and developers,
  • translators
  • audio and video recording technicians

It is not the complete list; there are many more occupations that are listed.

In comparison to the other BC PNP streams, where a valid employment letter is required from the candidates, the Tech Pilot job requires at least one year of employment. For more than one year, the duration is eligible as well. Just the offer letter should be in a full-time continuous occupation from an employer in BC. The invitations are sent out to the top-scoring candidates only who have met the eligibility requirements.

Candidates with the provincial nomination have 30 days to submit documents with a complete application. The processing time is ideally two to three months. The candidates who wish to apply under the Skills Immigration or the Express Entry BC categories can start the process by first creating a profile through the BC PNP’s online portal and by registering under its Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).
