The new BC PNP Tech pilot draw was announced on 21 September. The invitations in the Tech Pilot stream were issued through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) stream. The total number of immigration candidates selected was 74, and the minimum score of selection was 80 points. With the current draw, the total number of invitations issued by BC PNP this year has reached 8,661 invitations since the start of 2021.
For British Columbia’s Express Entry BC and Skills immigration categories, the applicants can be selected through the Skills and Immigration Registration System (SIRS). In the Skilled Worker and International Graduate subcategories of BC PNP the minimum provincial score of 80.
The BC Tech pilot program was started in May 2017, and it was started because there was a lot of demand for tech workers in British Columbia. The program was designed to help B.C. employers attract and select international talent. The popularity of the program made it a permanent immigration program.
The BC PNP Tech is a fast-track immigration pathway that helps the in-demand tech workers and international students. To be shortlisted, the applicants need to get registered in one of B.C.’s existing provincial immigration streams and they should also have a valid job offer of at least one year in 29 eligible occupations to qualify for the stream.
The Job should be full-time and from an eligible employer in the province. The invitations for this stream are sent out weekly and it is the top-scoring candidates who meet the eligibility requirements are selected. The applicants are required to submit the complete application and processing takes around two to three months. There are 600 points given to the applicants who receive the ITA for permanent residence via Express Entry.
