Alberta Province publishes details of two September PNP draws

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) recently held two rounds of invitations for Express Entry candidates. The first draw of the province was held on September 14, in which there were 385 immigration candidates invited for a provincial nomination. The draw required the applicants to have a score of at least 300 in the federal Express Entry system to be eligible for an invitation. The second draw was on September 21, and this draw also required a score of 300 points. In the second draw, however, the applicants invited were 450.

The Important Aspects – Alberta PNP

    • Total number of applicants invited in September – 853
    • CRS score - 300

With this latest draw, the Alberta province has now invited 5,342 Express Entry candidates for a provincial nomination since it has started its invitation rounds again in January 2021. Because of the pandemic, the province has earlier taken a temporary hiatus in the latter months of 2020. The target for Alberta in 2021 is to issue 6,250 nomination certificates.

What is the mode of working of the Alberta Express Entry Stream?

The Alberta Express Entry stream is a popular stream and is an enhanced Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). It allows the Alberta province to search the federal Express Entry pool of candidates and select the applicants for nomination.

Express Entry System is a point-based system for skilled workers selection in three categories - Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program.

The score is calculated based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), and the applicants get their points based on their age, education qualification, work experience, language skills in English or French, and other factors.

Canada’s immigration department, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), conducts regular Express Entry draws, inviting the highest-scoring candidates for permanent residence.

It is ideally the people who have low CRS scores who opt for the provincial nomination. Getting selected in the provincial nomination entitles the applicants to 600 extra points in the federal sore. In such a case, the appellant selection in the next federal draw is guaranteed.

    Alberta Express Entry Stream Eligibility

To be shortlisted for the provincial nomination through the Alberta Express Entry stream, the candidate needs to have adequate work experience in an eligible occupation. The Alberta province does not have a list of eligible occupations; rather, it lists occupations that are not eligible for the stream. IT will help if the applicant has an interest in moving to Alberta, work experience, a Canadian education, or a job offer. There are extra points for establishing a connection to the province through a parent, child, or spouse, sibling who is a permanent resident or citizen of Canada and can support your application in Alberta.
